Stephanie Guy completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Biology at Nipissing University in 2011. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University.
Her research is focused on the activation of Stat3, an important protein involved in cell division and survival, by the engagement of cell-to-cell adhesion proteins called cadherins. More specifically, she is looking at the role of this mechanism of Stat3 activation in different types of cancer cells. An NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarship supports her work. Stephanie is very excited to be a part of Kingston RIOT and to help share the cancer research going on at Queen’s with the Kingston community.
